Powered by Boothted: SQ Talks Welcomes Gilles Müller. Get inspired by a high level athlete
Gilles Müller is undoubtedly the most successful tennis player in Luxembourg's tennis history. The co-working space Silversquare had invited to a talk with Gilles Müller and Cedric Meuris, the stream was powered by Boothted.
Given the popularity of Gilles Müller it was clear that a live stream of the event was necessary. In addition to Facebook, the event was also to be streamed on Instagram and LinkedIn. An additional challenge was that there was no audio equipment in this particular area of the building.
We at Boothted’s StreamTeam took care of the complete production on site.

The Stream
The stream was of course branded with Silversquare's logo, as well as an intro screen and additional info inserts. Even though there are still streams that are produced "naked", without any branding, this is fortunately becoming more and more a thing of the past. Our customers attach great importance to having their "brand" reflected in the stream.
It is not uncommon for clients to want to stream an event on multiple platforms. Silversquare has quite some followers on Facebook, LinkedIn, but also on Instagram. Accordingly, streaming should be done on these 3 platforms. Both Facebook and LinkedIn provide RTMP for this purpose, which can be served from within Boothtet or other platforms without further ado.
The Instagram challenge
Instagram is a bit more cumbersome. There is currently no way to stream directly from an external platform to Instagram. However, a free tool (Yellow Duck) makes this quite simple and straightforward. Yellow Duck is installed on either Windows or Mac and then connects to your Instagram account. With the RTMP data provided, you can then easily stream in parallel on Instagram.
However, there is a small drawback: Streams on Instagram are not in 16:9 landscape format, but in portrait format. Accordingly, Instagram cuts off the edges of a landscape-stream. So you have to make sure that essential elements of the stream are centered in order not to lose this content.

Camera please
We had prepared 2 cameras for streaming in order to show both speakers together as well as to be able to use close-ups. The lighting in the room was not optimal in any way, so we set up 2 additional LED lights. Adequate lighting adds significantly to a professional stream. Without lighting, images often look flat, lacking depth, and the subject (in this case, the speakers) doesn't stand out well against the background.
Sound please
Even though the image is of course the most visible element of the stream, the sound is even more important. If for some reason the image fails, at least the sound can still convey the content. The other way around this can't work. For this reason, we put a lot of emphasis on a carefully leveled sound. Since there were no loudspeakers in this part of the building, we installed a compact and barely visible PA. This was quite sufficient to provide adequate sound for the participants present.
Although the moderator had suggested handheld microphones, we ultimately used lavaliers (tie mics) from Røde. In fact, these microphones are almost invisible in such a situation and allow the speaker to gesture freely with his hands.
The bottom line
Thanks to Gilles Müller's exciting insights and Cedric Meuris' perfect moderation, the event was a complete success. The fact that Silversquare was more than satisfied with our work is nothing less than the greatest compliment for us: "Boothted and their StreamTeam have made a tremendous job streaming Silversquare's Talk with Gilles Müller. They really handled the entire filming and streaming in a flawless way and took away from us all the burden to deal with any tech-stuff. It's great to work with people who simply instantly understand what we want and perform accordingly".
